60: Lagos govt, Fly Africa creates 60,000 cupcakes mosaic anniversary logo

Date:

Lagos State Government and Fly Africa, a corporate social responsibility initiative, on Thursday created 60,000 cupcakes mosaic as the largest logo to celebrate Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 60,000 cupcakes mosaic was put together by over 150 volunteers at the indoor sports hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The event was monitored by officials of the Guinness Book of World Records.

Wole Olagundoye, Managing Director of Fly Africa and Outori Limited, said the event was organised to bring Nigerians together as one big family to celebrate the country’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

Olagundoye said that the event was  supported by Dangote Sugar, Baker’s Choice, Golden Penny Flour Mills and  Princess Cakes, among others.

In her remark, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, said the largest Cupcake Mosaic of many colours was the first ever in the world.

“Lagos occupies a significant position in the history of this country economically, historically, financially and numerically; that is why the state is often referred to as a mini-Nigeria.

“The coming together of Fly Africa and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for this event underscores Lagos’ lively and growing arts scene as well as its rich attractions that have earned the nation a global voice,” the commissioner said.

She said that the event had demonstrated to the world what Lagos state could offer in terms of breaking new grounds and creativity.

Akinbile-Yussuf said Lagos would maintain its relevance in Nigeria by channeling its efforts into activities of strengthening the nation economically, culturally and socially.

She noted that Lagos was no doubt the melting pot for Nigeria tradition and culture.

Akinbile-Yussuf said that efforts would  be channeled towards the development of the state’s local tourism sites and the promotion of local creativity.

“Rather than enriching the economy of other countries through international tour, we want to change the narrative by making our state a more beautiful city where international tourists can visit and invest their resources, “she said.

NAN reports that Fly Africa is an initiative of Outori Ltd., a brand and consumer experience company with a global affiliation with Dentsu Aegis Network.
