Awka, Oct. 1, 2020 The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Uche Okafor, on Thursday called for equitable distribution of the nation’s resources among the six geopolitical zones of the country for effective development.

Okafor made the call in a statement to mark the 60th anniversary of Nigeria as a sovereign state.

He also urged political leaders to see the  peace and progress of the country as a priority by formulating policies and programmes that would benefit the masses.

“Equitable distribution of the nation’s resources will drive effective development and entrench the legacy of our leaders who fought for the nation’s independence and corporate existence.

“They are visionary leaders and I  enjoin Nigerians to always uphold those virtues and actions that will uplift the people and unite nation.

“God has continued to shape and prosper the country despite numerous challenges.

“Therefore, there is the need for the collective efforts of the people in addressing the economic, health and other challenges ravaging the country.

“May God  continue to watch over our country and grant the people an enduring peace at all times,” he said.

Okafor also urged government and private security operatives in the country to join hands in achieving maximum security of lives and property of the people.
