The Bayelsa Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) will begin a monthly jogging and fitness programme for its members, with the first edition on Saturday.

Alambo Datonye, Chairman of the Sports Committee of Bayelsa Council of NUJ, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Yenagoa.

He said Saturday’s event will take off at 6 a.m. at the Peace Park opposite Government House in Yenagoa and end at the NUJ Press Centre along Azikoro Road.

“The Chairman of the State Council, Samuel Numonengi, will lead top officers of the union and other practising journalists in the state during the exercise.

“The NUJ Jogging and Fitness Exercise, an initiative of the current executive committee of the Bayelsa Council of NUJ, will now hold every first Saturday of each month, beginning from this month.

“I can assure all journalists in the state that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free exercise,” he said.
