The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday condoled with the family of the late Chief Theophilus Adeleke Akinyele, urging all loved ones to find solace in his contributions to the country and humanity.

Akinyele served the late former President Shehu Shagari as Adviser on Budget Affairs.

Buhari’s condolence message was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled, ‘President Buhari mourns Second Republic presidential adviser, Chief Theophilus Akinyele’.

The statement read in part, “The President commiserates with all professional colleagues and friends of the former adviser, who served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Agriculture and Finance of the Old Western State of Nigeria, Registrar and Secretary to the Council of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife Nigeria and Secretary to a Military Government and Head of Civil Service of Oyo State.

“As Director of Budget and Special Adviser on Budget Affairs to President Shagari from 1979-1983, President Buhari affirms that he served the country meritoriously, using the knowledge acquired in some of the best institutions in the world to shape policies and advise on implementation, particularly on development issues.”

In a separate statement by Adesina, the President also prayed God’s comfort and succour for former Lagos State Military Administrator and All Progressives Congress stalwart, Brigadier-General Buba Marwa (retd.), on the loss of his younger brother, Idris, aged 57.

Alhaji Idris Marwa, a successful businessman in Kaduna, passed on Tuesday, after an illness.
