Champions League Matchday One Continues Today with Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal in Action

Date:

The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase enters its second day of fixtures today, September 9, with six matches on the schedule, including Barcelona hosting Feyenoord and Liverpool welcoming Atlético Madrid to Anfield.

The competition’s revamped 36-team league-phase format, now in its third season under the single-table system, kicked off on Tuesday, September 8, with Real Madrid beating Inter Milan among the opening results. Today’s card also includes Napoli against Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain hosting Slovan Bratislava, Sporting CP against Galatasaray, and Stuttgart facing Viking.

Each of the 36 clubs will play eight league-phase matches — four at home, four away — between now and January 27, 2027, with the top eight advancing directly to the round of 16. Clubs ranked ninth through 24th will enter a play-off round for the remaining knockout-stage spots.

Paris Saint-Germain enter the campaign as defending champions, having beaten Arsenal on penalties in the 2025/26 final in Budapest. The 2026/27 final is scheduled for June 5, 2027, at Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium.
