Date:

The Kwara Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Funke Oyedun, has called on waste collection contractors to hire more personnel for effective waste collection and disposal.

Oyedun made the call in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria in Ilorin on Saturday.

The commissioner said that with adequate number of personnel and equipment, waste collection and disposal in the state would improve and the environment would be better for it.

She noted that government needed to focus on solving environmental and waste disposal problems for the improvement and betterment of the state.

“It is not something we can overlook. We must braze up and be focused in addressing environmental issues through profound solutions,’’ she said.

Oyedun decried the negative posture of the people toward waste disposal and said there was the need for comprehensive enlightenment and advocacy.
