The chairmen of Ikorodu Local Government Area and his couunterpart in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Government Developmental Council (LCDA), on Thursday joined Nigerians both at home and abroad to felicitate with others in the country on its 60th anniversary.
They expressed their views in interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria , in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Mr Wasiu Adesina, tasked Nigerian to immensely contribute and work together for growth and development of the country as well as to respect one another’s values, principles and ideologies.
“Stuck at a point is a man without his folks or others to lend a helping hand.
“Many keep moving in circles for lacking the principles of togetherness in freedom.
“For Freedom of a nation to be sustained, unity is the basis and strength is basic.
“For Peace and Love to thrive, respect for one another’s values, principles and ideologies is important.
“Also, inculcating, appreciating and accepting diversity of cultures in the nation for a sustainable Nigeria is key,” Adesina said.
According to the council boss, for growth and development in the nation Nigerians have to contribute to some basic principles to move the country forward.
“For growth and development in the nation, there is need for contribution to good governance, respect and adherence to the Constitution and the constituted authority.
“Supporting the government at all levels, economy, education, health, security and every other sector within one’s capacity should be a priority and the innate zeal to move Nigeria forward working together,” he said.
Mr Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA said that inspite of ugly picture being painted by certain Nigerians, the country had not done badly and remained united.
He added that Nigerians should have every reason to celebrate.
The council boss said that the country had its own challenges like any other country of the world which which could be surmounted by our collective effort if we were united as one Nigeria.
The chairman tasked Nigerians to begin to see light at the end of the nation’s tunnel both in the economy, politics, development and growth.
“All Progressives Congress (APC), and President Mohammadu Buhari, all portend good things for the nation and its people.
“Especially when Nigerians have all begun to talk much about going back to Agriculture, and talking less these days about oil.
“Agriculture has become the unavoidable issue in the nation’s debate or discuss.
“All these point to the fact that the nation is moving to the fast lane of development and growth,” Daini said.
The council boss urged Nigerians to stop the songs of distress and recession, but should begin to sing the songs of progress, surplus and prosperity for the nation and the people.
Daini, therefore, wished the people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Lagos State and all Nigerians happy and successful 60th independence anniversary.
