Nigeria @ 60: Foundation urges youths to harness potential for positive development

Kaduna, Oct. 1, 2020 The Arewa Youth Trust Foundation has urged Nigerian youths to harness their potential positively for development of the country.

The Team Lead of the foundation, Amb. Fahad Chikaji-Ahmed, gave the advice in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Kaduna.

Chikaji-Ahmed described youths as “very important to the society” and adviced them to be the best in whatever they do, saying “there is always reward for hard-work.

“Young people are the most crucial segment of the society; youths are social actors of development and can serve as pressure group to lobby government in defining their priorities.”

According to him, apart from the youths being the leaders of tomorrow, they are equally the partners of today.

He added that “you need the experience of today to enable you to lead tomorrow effectively.

“Youths have the responsibility toward our country, we must participate actively in the emancipation of our fellow youths from non-inclusion in policy making and act of governance.

“It takes just a minute or few seconds to expose an intelligent human to the most inevitable and powerful truth in life, but it takes years to prove the same.

“let’s look around and listen to that cry of our mother, Nigeria which is unheard, choose your role and act appropriately”, he advised.

He called on the youths to be honest, hard working and stand against all vices instead of blaming the system.

“Nigerian youths should come together; with our toil, let us mould our nation for a better tomorrow, we have to use our brains, strength, creativity and imagination to serve our darling nation.

“Instead of asking who is going to fight the corruption?, we should do it ourselves, instead of ruining the country, we should develop it”, Ahmed-Chikaji stressed.

He congratulated the youths of the past and the present who made and are still making efforts to make a difference toward the nation’s development.

Chikaji-Ahmed criticised youths who achieved nothing out of their youthful ages, describing them as those who demeaned the nation’s integrity and worthiness in the eyes of other nations.

He noted that “unfortunately today, majority of youths choose to spend their days on drugs; armed robbery, night partying and living up their destiny in-between women legs, it is sardonic to our dear nation.

“Others have no vision, and if they do have dreams, they don’t have the drive to make any attempt at achieving them; they should wakeup from their slumber and begin to be responsible; time does not wait for anyone.”

He called on the youths to gain control of the nation, motivate themselves, teach responsibility and goal settings.

“I fear if we don’t, we will soon be supporting an entire generation of waywardness, let us answer the call of patriotism, rather than blaming the system”, he advised.
