OGUN 2027: PDP Builds Momentum for Victory

Another significant chapter in the political history of Ogun State was written today as the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) formally received Iyabo Obasanjo into the party.

What once appeared to be political speculation has now evolved into a reality that continues to reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The entry of Senator Iyabo Obasanjo into the PDP is widely regarded as a major boost to the party’s growing strength and acceptance across the state.

Even more significant is the widespread belief that Senator Iyabo Obasanjo is poised to emerge as the PDP’s Senator for Ogun Central. Political observers have noted that her pedigree, experience, grassroots appeal, and strong connection with the people of Ogun Central will considerably strengthen the party’s chances in the district.

When viewed alongside the emergence of Dr. Lateefat Sowunmi, popularly revered as the Iya Sunnah of Egbaland, as the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate, the PDP continues to demonstrate its readiness to assemble a formidable team capable of inspiring confidence across all sections of Ogun State.

These developments reflect a party that is focused, strategic, and determined to offer a compelling alternative to the people. From Ogun Central to Ogun East and Ogun West, the PDP is steadily consolidating support and building the broad coalition required to secure victory in the next general election.

As 2027 draws closer, one message is becoming increasingly clear: the Ogun State PDP is united, energized, and resolutely committed to winning the mandate of the people and ushering in a new era of purposeful leadership and inclusive development for Ogun State.
