Ogun 2023: Abiodun, Ajadi, Others For CDHR, HRGDS Governorship Debate

The Ogun chapter of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) and the Human Rights and Grassroots Development Society (HRGDS), will be engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized Gubernatorial candidates for the 2023 Election.


This was contained in a statement, jointly issued in Abeokuta on Saturday, by CDHR and HRGDS.



The statement was jointly signed by Mustapha Tiamiyu and Joel-Taiwo Funmilayo, the CDHR Chairman and the HRGDS Secretary respectively.


According to the statement, the organisations in similar vein engaged the party candidates prior to 2015 and 2019 Governorship Elections in the state.


The theme for the 2023 engagement is: “Electorates’ Conversation with Ogun Governorship Candidates”.



“The objectives of the engagement is to acquaint the Ogun State electorates with the candidate’s manifestoes, aimed at guiding them in the decision-making process of their choice at the poll.



“Also to scrutinize the candidates’ manifestoes, especially on how they intend to address the many challenges confronting the state and Nigeria at large, particularly as it concerns Security, Economy, Education, Health, Rule of Law among others, “the statement said.


The organisations appointed Mr Yinka Folarin as the Chairman, Ogun 2023 Political Conversation / Debate Organizing Committee.



“Other members of the Committee are Shoyombo Sunday, Immediate Past Chairman CDHR, Ali Adesina and Onifade Fumbi.



According to the statement Yinka Folarin is a former Chairman and the National Secretary of CDHR.



“We look forward to a robust engagements as we collectively advance democratic ideals in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
