Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, would on Thursday lead the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, to inaugurate the commencement of lecture of a faith-based private varsity in the State.
The University, Minaret, which was owned by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community would also perform the investiture of the maiden Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdul Rahman Abdullah.
In a statement issued by the Media lead, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria, Dr Qasim Akinreti, stated that the faith-based University is renowned for its contribution to global peace.
“Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, President Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar and the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, are scheduled to inaugurate the commencement of academic session and investiture of the pioneer Vice Chancellor, The Minaret University Ikirun, Osun state South West Nigeria.
The statement reads, “The Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria and Chancellor Minaret University, Barrister Alatoye Azeez Folorunso, will officially present the pioneer Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul Rahman Abdullah to the academic and host community in Ikirun.
“Minaret University Ikirun was among the new private universities granted licences by the Nigerian government last year. The faith based university added to the growing number of private universities in Osun state and Nigeria in general”, it added.
