Abuja, Oct. 28, 2026 (NAN) National Programme Manager, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), Mr Hamza Baba, declared on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda is a realty and delivering results not a mere promise for tomorrow.

Baba said this on Tuesday in Abuja in a keynote at the ‘National Dialogue on Progress’ organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) support group, Progressive Voice for Progressive Minds (PVPM).

He said that after three years of Tinubu’s administration, tangible results of economic reforms were already evident.

“Renewed Hope is not a promise for tomorrow. It is a decision that is painful today for a prosperous tomorrow, and progressive minds understand this,” Baba said.

According to him, Tinubu had displayed courageous leadership by taking bold economic steps that previous administrations avoided, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.

He said while the reforms came with temporary pain, they had significantly improved the nation’s financial standing, resulting in state governments receiving three times their previous allocations.

“For decades we subsidised consumption and starved production.

“President Tinubu took the boldest decision any Nigerian leader has taken. Today, capital is returning to Nigeria. That is progressive leadership prioritising prosperity over temporary popularity,” he said.

Baba highlighted key human-centered initiatives under Renewed Hope agenda, including student loan scheme, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, social housing, food security interventions, and financial inclusion programmes as evidence of human touch to reforms.

He explained that GEEP was actively driving financial empowerment by directly transferring cash, credit, and food support to vulnerable citizens without middle-men.

He said this had contributed to transitioning market women, artisans, and smallholder farmers from informal subsistence to structured businesses.

Baba urged the progressive group to actively defend Tinubu’s economic reforms and mobilise voters at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He described the PVPM as the intellectual engine and primary defense force of the ruling APC in the public domain.

“Go and defend the reforms in your WhatsApp groups, wards, and on the radio. Explain the Renewed Hope agenda and tell Nigerians why we had to go through this temporary pain,” he said

“The opposition is united only by anger, not by ideas,” Baba said.

The Guest Speaker, Kehinde Bankole, also urged Nigerians to support Tinubu administration, saying the ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure projects were crucial for long-term national growth.

Bankole, a real estate entrepreneur, while commending the initiatives of the current administration including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, said they were unlocking vast economic opportunities.

Bankole said that the coastal highway concept was originally proposed in the 1970s under the late Gen. Murtala Muhammed but credited Tinubu for having the vision and political will to execute it.

He acknowledging the current economic challenges in the country he likened the phase to the necessary pains of nation-building.

“Every major structural rebuild comes with temporary pain. Rebuilding a nation requires short-term sacrifices so that future generations can reap the benefits,” Bankole said.

He said that in spite of the inflation and currency adjustments, Nigeria remained one of the most cost-effective places to live and invest compared to neighbouring other parts of the world.

Bankole called on Nigerians to remain optimistic and supportive of the government, saying the country’s vast untapped natural resources and human potential remained crucial for its development.

“Nigeria is endowed with immense natural wealth and potential that can surpass many developed nations.

“What we need is sustained support for visionary leadership, good health and sound wisdom for the President as well as competent individuals surrounding the leadership to ensure successful implementation of policies,” Bankole said.

He advised the citizens to stay resilient and patriotic, and expressed confidence that current policies would yield economic prosperity for the nation.

Both speakers commended the National Coordinator PVPM, Mrs Theresa Ugbaja, urging her to work for the success of APC in 2027 general elections.
