The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebel group carried out a terrorist attack on a Turkish evacuation plane, an act strongly condemned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan.
According to a statement released by Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohamed Abdelmannan, the attack was an attempt to disrupt the evacuation efforts of diplomats and foreign nationals.
The RSF violated a truce and heavily shot at the plane as it was landing at Wadi Sayidna Military Airport on the morning of April 28, 2023.
The attack caused damage to the fuel system and an injury to a crew member. Despite this, the plane was able to land safely, and repairs are currently underway.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the actions of the RSF for violating the truce and obstructing the evacuation of diplomats and foreign nationals. They have called on the International Community to condemn this terrorist act.

According to a trusted source, conflict broke out in Sudan on April 15, mainly in the capital Khartoum and the Darfur region, between rival factions of the country’s military government. The RSF initiated the fighting by attacking key government sites. Reports of airstrikes, artillery, and heavy gunfire were widespread across the country, including the capital.
As of April 15, both RSF leader Mohamed Dagalo and Sudan de facto leader Abdel Al-Burhan claimed control over critical government sites, such as the general military headquarters, the presidential palace, Khartoum International Airport, the Army chief’s official residence, and Sudan TV headquarters.
It is worth noting that the attack on the Turkish evacuation plane occurred during this conflict, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan has taken a stand against it, calling on the International Community to condemn the RSF’s criminal act.
This is a matter of concern for the global community, and efforts are being made to bring it to an end.
