Tragedy struck on Tuesday morning at the busy Badagry Roundabout as a Dangote long truck rammed into commercial motorcyclists, killing three persons, including an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The fatal accident, which occurred at about 9:46 a.m., involved a Dangote truck reportedly travelling from Lagos along the Badagry Motorway en route to the Seme axis.

Eyewitnesses said the truck lost control near the roundabout, crushing two motorcycles in the process.

Three persons, including a LASTMA officer who was on duty, were confirmed dead at the scene. The impact of the crash left the motorcycles severely damaged.

Emergency responders swiftly mobilised to the scene to manage the aftermath of the accident and prevent further casualties. Officials of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps and LASTMA were present to secure the area, control traffic and restore normalcy.

The remains of the deceased were evacuated, while security personnel cordoned off the area to ease congestion caused by the incident.

As of press time, authorities had yet to release an official statement on the cause of the crash. However, investigations are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
