UNILORIN Students Protest ‘Outrageous’ Fee Hike as School Uploads 2025/2026 Tuition of Up to ₦406,888

Date:

Students of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) have expressed anger and frustration following a steep increase in tuition fees for the 2025/2026 academic session, with some departments reportedly charged as high as ₦406,888.

According to multiple student sources, the new fees were quietly uploaded on the university’s portal without prior announcement or consultation, sparking outrage across social media platforms. Many described the increment as “insensitive,” citing the harsh economic realities and ongoing financial struggles faced by Nigerian students and their families.

Student unions and concerned groups are reportedly mobilizing to seek clarification from the school management, accusing authorities of lacking transparency in the decision-making process.

As protests gain momentum online, questions mount over whether UNILORIN will respond to student concerns or stand firm on the controversial tuition hike.
