The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, has charged the institution’s revenue staff to think outside the box to increase the university’s Internally Generated Revenue base.

Egbewole, who is also the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the institution, stated this when he led members of the committee on a two-day campus-wide visit to investment facilities in the university.

According to him, Unilorin has spent so much on the revenue-generating units and that the return on investment has not been encouraging.

He noted at the various facilities visited that that the improvement of the revenue base was his administration’s priority,.

He also assured on support and reinvigorate all the revenue-generating units in the institution.

He charged the heads of the various facilities to come up with creative ways to expand the revenue base, adding that those facilities will also benefit as they expand their financial base.

Egbewole also requested the revenue-generating units to bring up proposals that would aid what they are doing and find a way to improve on their revenue intakes.

While lamenting at the nose-diving state of revenue, Egbewole noted that the centres were positioned to serve the state and the nation  and that the university has no reason not to succeed.

He also suggested that such arms of the university should be insulated from strike actions, adding that the visit will help the institution’s management to know what to do better.
