South Korea has demanded that North Korea immediately stop construction and fortification activities near the inter-Korean border.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff also called on Pyongyang to apologise over a recent mine blast that injured three South Korean soldiers.
Seoul said an investigation found that North Korean mines were highly likely responsible for the September 21 explosion near the Military Demarcation Line.
South Korea described the border fortification work as a violation of the armistice framework and warned that continued activity could increase tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
North Korea has rejected South Korean accusations over the mine incident and has described Seoul’s findings as a fabrication.
