Global payments company Visa has open-sourced part of its artificial-intelligence-powered cybersecurity system as it prepares for increasingly autonomous cyberattacks.
Visa’s president of technology, Rajat Taneja, told Reuters that the company made elements of its cyber-defence system publicly available after vulnerabilities involving AI models highlighted new security challenges.
The company processes roughly $15 trillion in payments annually, making cybersecurity a major concern as AI agents become increasingly involved in digital transactions.
Visa said the move is intended to help strengthen defences against cyberattacks that could become more adaptive and autonomous.
The company is also examining longer-term security risks from quantum computing, which could eventually threaten existing encryption systems.
